We hope this email finds you well. The EAFPS Executive Board would like to report on recent news. The EAFPS 44th annual meeting on the 15-18 of September 2021 in Nice was the first large face to face meeting since the pandemic. The highly anticipated conference proved to be very successful with attendance in excess of 400 delegates and it brought a sense of excitement as normality is being restored. There was a feast of outstanding lectures and masterclasses by international experts. An inspiring Joseph lecture was delivered by Roger Jankowski from Nancy, France.
The General Assembly on the 17th of September was highly attended. The latest update of the byelaws was approved and is now available to view on our website. The result of online election for the 2021-2023 Executive Board was also announced. Jose Carlos Neves was voted as president elect, Frank Riedel as General Secretary and Abdulkadir Göksel as treasurer. Hesham Saleh handed the presidency to Alwyn D’Souza who will serve his term as EAFPS president from 2021 to 2023. Three new national delegates were nominated and voted for, Mahmoud Daoud from Romania, Francis Marchal from Switzerland and Tevfik Sozen from Turkey. Following that, Michal Krawczynski presented the excellent plans for the 45th EAFPS meeting in Lodz, Poland and the assembly approved the application of Stelio Mocella for the 2023 meeting to be held in Verona, Italy by a vote of hands.
The presentation of awards followed with honorary membership bestowed to Naresh Joshi, well-known oculoplastic surgeon from London, for his long support of the objectives of the EAFPS. Kristian Huston was honoured with Tony Bull award for best published peer-reviewed research article.
