JOIN EUROPE’S LARGEST SOCIETY OF FACIAL PLASTIC SURGEONS

Mission Statement

The European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery (EAFPS) (Formerly known as The Joseph Society and as the European Academy of Facial Surgery) was established in 1977 with the primary objective of establishing a proficient community of surgeons specialized in plastic and reconstructive surgery focusing on the face and neck. Its core aim is to foster a cohort of adequately trained and experienced surgeons in this specific domain. The overarching goal of the academy is to encourage comprehensive study, research, and scientific progression in the realm of plastic and reconstructive surgery, amalgamating common interests across several specialties. These specialties typically encompass otorhinolaryngology, maxillofacial surgery, ophthalmology, and general plastic surgery.

While primarily catering to surgeons within Europe, the academy welcomes interest and participation from professionals outside the European region. English serves as the official language of communication within the Academy. EAFPS actively engages with the European community to delineate facial plastic surgery as a distinct entity and is proactive in advocating appropriate training programs for the subspecialty of facial plastic surgery.

The Academy administers a postgraduate fellowship program and, as a member of the International Federation of Facial Plastic Surgery Societies (IFFPSS), adheres to a unified examination and certification process. This process is under the affiliation of European Board Examination – Otorhinolaryngology (EBE-ORL) for its examination and certification guidelines.

Benefits

These include access to fellowships and certification (EBEC-FPRS Certification Exam), annual EAFPS meeting (at reduced registration rates), the official journals of the EAFPS: “Facial Plastic Surgery” and “Facial Plastic Surgery & Aesthetic Medicine (FPSAM)” (“Formerly Archives of Facial Plastic Surgery”), a number of excellent surgical courses held under the auspices of the EAFPS, and an interspecialty network of experts that allows for quick and easy communication. The reduced rate of the journals alone pays for the membership and members find the professional development opportunities throughout the year to be invaluable. More information follows below about each membership benefit.

Journal Subscriptions

Subscriptions to Facial Plastic Surgery and/or Facial Plastic Surgery & Aesthetic Medicine (FPSAM) are offered at special rates for all members of the EAFPS. (These reductions have already a higher value than the whole membership fee!)

Newsletter

EAFPS Newsletter with information about our European Academy, with exchange of ideas and opinions and continuing education are distributed to all EAFPS members
