Dear Friends and colleagues,

One more year has gone by – again! We are immensely grateful to our membership and everyone who has contributed to the success of EAFPS over the last year. Our Academy continues to grow from strength to strength with the highest number of paying members enjoying the benefits of the membership solidifying education, training, and accreditation, with the goal to disseminate knowledge in Facial Plastic Surgery.

Our education programme is truly world leading. The webinar on 17th December 2022 was a huge success despite the recent set back we suffered with unfortunate but inevitable cancellation of EAFPS London annual meeting in September 2022. We intend to arrange two more webinars in the new year focussing on core programme from the London meeting, and I sincerely hope you will participate.

As we look back over the past 12 months, it’s quite incredible how far we have come. The new focus group leads have pushed the education boundaries even further, aspiring to meet requirements of our membership. This is specifically evident with the EAFPS Cadaveric courses under the leadership of Dr Saban, who has worked tirelessly with his core team of teachers. This effort will be felt even further in 2023. I encourage all of you to get yourself immersed in our educational programmes either as trainees or trainers.

Our Junior section has completed its first task of examining the trends in rhinoplasty surgery within our membership and the data will be published soon, This is the first publication of its kind scoping the rhinoplasty practice across the EAFPS membership.

The Facial Plastic Surgery Journal is becoming more popular with some tremendous contributions from surgeons, researchers, and leaders from all specialities. Please take time to look at every published volume as well e-First section of the journal to keep updated. We want to thank Dr A Sclafani in particular for his dedication to our journal as our North American editor in chief.

Our fellowships are gaining popularity than ever before with open access to the international community through the international federation route. In 2023 you will also witness a tremendous push in our Rhinoplasty training programme, which is being finalised now.

We are extremely excited about what 2023 has to offer. The Annual meeting will be in Verona, under the leadership of Dr Mocella, one of the longest serving members of our Academy. It will be no doubt a fabulous event, and we look forward to seeing you in Verona in September.

Finally, most importantly we wish you a Merry Christmas and a fantastic festive season, A Happy New Year wherever you are in the world and however you wish to mark it, with whatever meaning it carries for you and your loved ones.

Alwyn D’Souza and rest of the EB.
